Eagle Pass is a city of about 29,000 people in Maverick County, situated directly on the Rio Grande across from Piedras Negras, Mexico. It is one of the more compact cities in Southwest Texas - tight-knit, predominantly Hispanic, and rooted in decades of border trade and community life. The Camino Real International Bridge connects Eagle Pass to daily cross-border traffic that shapes the local economy and the rhythm of daily life here. Fort Duncan Park, along the river, is one of the oldest and most recognized landmarks in the city - a former military post that has become a gathering place for local families.
The housing stock in Eagle Pass is a mix of older single-family homes near the historic core and newer subdivisions that have expanded outward, particularly to the north and east of downtown. Stucco and masonry exteriors are common throughout, well suited to the dry heat but still requiring regular maintenance as the years pass. The Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino, located just outside city limits on the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe reservation, is one of the best-known features of the broader Maverick County area. Homeowners we work with come from all parts of Eagle Pass, and we also cover nearby communities including Del Rio to the east, where many residents face the same extreme heat and aging housing challenges.
