Crystal City is the county seat of Zavala County in southwest Texas, with a population of roughly 7,000 to 8,000 residents. The city is widely known as the Spinach Capital of the World, a distinction earned during the mid-20th century when irrigated farming made this part of the Winter Garden region one of the most productive vegetable growing areas in Texas. The community has deep roots - many families have lived here for multiple generations, and long-term homeownership is common. That history means a large share of the local housing stock dates back to the 1950s and 1960s, when homes were built to a different standard than what southwest Texas summers now demand.
Most homes in Crystal City are single-family structures on modest lots, with concrete block and stucco construction common throughout the older neighborhoods. The flat terrain of the Zavala County plain surrounds the city, and the expansive soils in this part of south Texas are one of the most persistent maintenance challenges property owners here face. The residential streets around Crystal City High School, the Javelinas sports programs, and the neighborhoods near the Zavala County Courthouse make up the fabric of daily life here. We also serve homeowners throughout Eagle Pass to the northwest, which is our home base and gives you a clear picture of the geography we work in regularly.
